Fredericksburg Photos

This past weekend Cynthia and I headed to Fredericksburg for our 5th anniversary. The weather was amazing and we had a great time exploring the town and surrounding countryside. We also ate very well and I enjoyed a beautiful wheat beer from Germany that reminded me a lot of the beers I had in Munich during our trip to Europe last year.

This weekend also gave me a chance to put my D40 through it’s first real test. I was extremely pleased with my results and posted a small selection of shots on flickr. For the most part I left the camera on aperture-priority and adjusted the aperture accordingly based on the available light and desired depth of field. I did change the white balance one evening and then forgot to change it back so half of the shots from the following day looked really blue, but thankfully I was shooting in RAW and so that was an easy fix in Photoshop. I love shooting in RAW and the control you get with your photos. There’s still so much to learn with all of these settings and knowing which ones to choose for each shot, especially in low-light situations.
