Phew! I have been wanting to do this for a long time. For years now I have been spending all of my time as a designer creating artwork for other people, whether that be clients, my employer or friends. Recently I’ve been thinking about carving out time to do some personal work for a change, but have been struggling with figuring out where to start. Usually I have a fairly fleshed out project on my desk before I start working on something new. This time it was completely up to me and I found my mind racing in all sorts of directions as to where to get started. After taking a few steps back, actually closing my computer and getting this completely out of my mind, the idea for the above poster came to me and so today I ran with it. Now, this is kind of an ironic image for me because I’m actually not that big a fan of classic rock. However I’m a huge fan of music and of a classic, vintage design style and I knew whatever project I started with I would lean more towards those trends. This is what came out after some copy & pasting, layering and brush work in Photoshop.
